Pölkky Oy is the largest private wood processing company in Northern Finland. The sawmills and further processing facilities operated by Pölkky Oy are located in Kuusamo and Taivalkoski in the heart of Finland’s best raw material region of Karelia.
Karelia and the surrounding regions are located in far northern Finland close to the Arctic Circle. Timber grown in this region is characterized by its slow grown fine grain and small knots. This fine grained quality timber is ideally suited to the manufacture of joinery for doors, windows and mouldings. Apart from being specially kiln dried for the Australian market, high technology processing capabilities are used including optical grading technology that ensures every piece of timber meets the intended grade specifications and minimizing waste of this precious raw material.
Wright Forest Products access these Artic regions to supply sawn and profiled Nordic Redwood and Whitewood to the joinery and manufacturing sectors with the highest quality products available. All Polkky products are “A” Quality (0therwise known as US (I-III and I-IV)) and specially kiln dried to 12% moisuture content for the Australian market place.
